Nimes

Nimes was founded by Emperor Augustus and prospered in 2nd century AD due to its proximity to a natural spring in Ales which brought water to the city via the Pont du Gard.
Situated at the foothills of the Cevennes mountain range in the southeast of France, Nimes has some of the best preserved Roman architecture in the world including the Nimes Arena, a replica of the Colesseum in Rome. It is here that many come to witness the Spanish style ferias or bullfights that take place particularly at Easter and during the summer months.
