The east coast of Jersey offers a wide range of history, golden sandy beaches, attractive harbours and ports and leisure activities. The most recognised symbol on the east coast is the medieval Mont Orgueil Castle, that was built in the 13th century to protect the island against the French. This dramatic castle towers over the picturesque harbour town of Gorey, arguably one of the finest towns on the island with a variety of restaurants, cafés and bars overlooking the beautiful harbour. The long sandy beach at the Royal Bay of Grouville is ideal for families and offers a wide selection of water sports and other activities.
